The Summer Dragon by Todd Lockwood – ARC Review

This ARC review is ridiculously late. It took me forever to slug through this book, but I have to preface, it was not the stories fault, or the plot etc., it was the typography. This is a lesson to authors - your formatting matters. Why BERKLEY didn’t check their ARC output is beyond me. I understand it’s just the ARC - but you are trying to get reviews out of these and the LIGATURES were missing. For the none typography nerds out there - that’s the fi - when it converts to one glyph. See, in some fonts the fi combines and removes the dot on the i. Some fonts have this glyph, others do not. The master file used ligatures - when they converted it to an eARC the converted font didn’t have that glyph, which means EVERY fi in the book was missing. There are 3681 words that use an fi. It made this ARC almost impossible to read. I apologize for the long rant, but I feel obligated to read the book because I received and ARC, but found it impossible to enjoy the book since I was constantly being popped out of it.

Bookstagram Basics - Integrating Instagram with your blog! - Join the cool kids club. Bookstagramming isn't new, it's been around since Instagram became popular, but I've noticed recently that a lot of bloggers are integrating their blog posts and reviews with clever photography, taking the #Bookstagram tag to the next level. Color Me Inspired! Covers to Inspire Your Blog Colors

I love beautiful covers, the colors that the designers use are sometimes awe-inspiring. At times I use covers to inspire the designs I create. The colors, the type, the lighting and balance. Here are some of the covers that I’ve been inspired by lately. Beautiful covers of books that have been released in 2016. They made my jaw drop – I hope you like them to. Then I created color palettes based off of the colors – who wants a design with these colors? I know I do…

Blogger Pet Peeves – A Dishing Junk Special

It seems to happen more and more, either my propensity for “looking away” has diminished, or people just DGAF anymore. Blogging has exploded, petered out and then exploded again with a veritable lunacy of every make, model, and variety of crazy. Not to mention the authors that have flooded the scene, all becoming more and more prevalent with each insane book they publish. It used to be that an incident happened every now and again, somebody would lose their shit and the internet would go bonkers and then it would die down and we would all forget. Now – it’s like every day. Has the world gone mad? Or is it just that our little part of the universe finally caught up to the Kardashian mentality of the rest of the world that we thought we were to good to be a part of?
