Welcome to the Feature & Follow

Increase Blog FollowersThe Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee of Parajunkee’s View and Alison of Alison Can Read. Each host will have their own Feature Blog and this way it’ll allow us to show off more new blogs!

How does this work?

The goal is to increase blog followers and make friends. First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools — keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them “hi” in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you! What sets this Hop apart from others, is our Feature. Each week we will showcase a Featured Blogger, from all different genres and areas. Who is our Feature today? Find out below. Just remember it is required, if you participate, to follow our Features and you must follow the hosts (Parajunkee & Alison Can Read) as a courtesy. How do you follow someone? Well, if you have a preference, state it in your #FF post. A lot of blogs are transitioning to WordPress in which they do not have the luxury of GFC, so an RSS subscription is appreciated or if you choose an email subscription. If you don’t have GFC please state in your post how you would like to be followed. All features are chosen randomly to be the feature. They are not chosen by content or name.

Our Feature this week:

Cassi @ My Thoughts Literally

Interview Questions
1.) When did you start blogging?

Originally four years ago but very irregularly. I would stop back maybe a few times a year and update and tell myself I would keep it up but never did. This most recent foray happened about six months ago and it seems to be sticking. 2.) What’s your favorite part about book blogging?
I think the best part so far has just been learning about amazing new books and being able to join in on the conversation with like-minded people about books that I enjoyed. I have found some new favorites through recommendations from fellow bloggers

3.) What types of books do you mainly blog about?
I have pretty eclectic taste in books. I try to mix in Classics with recent fiction and YA. In terms of genre mostly fantasy, historical fiction, and paranormal.

4.) What are your favorite books?
There are so many to list. My current five favorite standalone books are The Historian, The Alchemist, Wuthering Heights, The Heart is A Lonely Hunter, and new fave Attachments. My five favorite series are Harry Potter, A Song of Ice and Fire, The Wicked Years, The Luxe Series, and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

5.) What has been the best thing that happened to you because of book blogging?
The best and most tangible thing that has happened to me since blogging is probably that my reading has become much more critical, and it has has become much more frequent. I feel like I’m reading a lot more and I’m pushing myself to read a lot more. Maybe it’s just my competitive nature and the need to keep up with everyone else in the community.

This weeks Question:

Tell us about a book that you didn’t like and why we shouldn’t read it (as nicely and respectfully as possible)

I never really liked THE SCARLET LETTER. I found Hester rather dull and a bit dated. And don’t get me started on the psycho daughter Pearl. Now that child needed therapy.

Parajunkee, Urban Fantasy, Blogger TipsNew Feature! Next weeks question will be a question.

Spring Break. Where would be your favorite destination spot if you could join the Spring Break festivities?

Our Feature this week:

NJ Kinny’s World of Books

When did you start blogging?
I started this blog at the end of May in 2013. I still remember the frustration I had been feeling lately regarding my job and the only two things keeping me sane had been my love for books and my husband. So one day when he suggested about starting a book blog where I could talk about the books I was reading and interact with like minded book lovers, I just jumped at the idea and instantly revived an old blog which I had made while in college but never used. I started with a review of one of my favorite books, A Study in Scarlet by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and have never looked back since.

What is your favorite part of book blogging?
I love the reviewing part of my job. I just love to share my thoughts about a book that I have read and interact with other people who also love reading.

What type of books do you mainly blog about?
I blog about any book that I am able to finish reading. I am not choosy about the genre but still clear away from poetry and autobiographies. I have come across and read some very interesting books so far and hope to continue exploring. :)

What is your favorite book(s)?
Wow. That’s a difficult question. I love all books by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie and so it is safe to say that I really like mysteries. I also love books with a good romance and if it has a suspense element in it then it is a plus. Family stories, good fantasy plots, magic settings also appeal to me. There are so many books I like that it is difficult to name a few. :)

What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?
I have met some great people because of blogging and also got introduced to books and genres that I would not have known had I not been blogging. I have finally found a great way to blow steam, enjoy myself, satisfy my bookish and artistic cravings plus meet some very talented people. When people comment, follow me and appreciate my efforts I feel so proud and so thankful that I took my husband’s advise. Life is great because of blogging! :)

Parajunkee, Urban Fantasy, Blogger TipsOur Feature this week:

Julie & Rose from ChapterBreak.net

When did you start blogging?

Julie: We started the book blog in April 2013. I have a personal blog that I’ve had since the early 2000s!
Rose: I started blogging in April of last year (2013).

What is your favorite part of book blogging?

Julie: I love interacting with other bookworms and fangirling over our most recent favorite book.
Rose: My favorite part is the sense of community. I love how as soon as you discover that someone else loves the same books as you, you are instant besties.

What type of books do you mainly blog about?

Julie: I review what I read, which varies based on book club selections and other interests. In general, I tend to post mostly YA and NA paranormal, dystopia, and some contemporary.
Rose: I love to blog about books in the genres that I like reading the most. Those genres would be YA and NA. I love me a good love story.

What is your favorite book(s)?

Julie: There is no such thing as my favorite book! It is only what book do I butterflying live at the moment (kudos if you get the references). I have a Goodreads shelf called “favorites” which has 80 some books on there. But if I had to list some off the top of my head, I would say With All My Soul by Rachel Vincent and Hopeless by Colleen Hoover.
Rose: Wow! That is like asking a mother to pick a favorite among her children. But since we all know mothers have favorites (as I clearly know I am MY mother’s favorite), some of my favorite titles would include Hopeless by Colleen Hoover and Easy by Tammara Webber. Oh! And Reason to Breathe by Rebecca Donovan and Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens.

What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?

Julie: Getting to meet so many wonderful authors and having an excuse to go to fun bookish events!
Rose: I have really enjoyed getting to meet new book lovers and the traveling! I have been to Dallas, and am going to Portland, Oregon in two weeks.

Tash Brilliant Book Blog

When did you start blogging?
I started blogging nearly 2 years ago. I’m coming up to my 2 year blog birthday. I can’t believe I’ve been blogging for so long but I’ve loved every minute of it!

What is your favorite part of book blogging?
My favourite part of blogging is talking to like minded people about books; so many people don’t read any more so it’s great that I can talk to people who share my love of books, reading and blogging.

What type of books do you mainly blog about?
I mainly blog about teen books and the odd YA.

What is your favorite book(s)?
I have so many, my ultimate favourite books are The Fault in our Stars, The Hunger Games and Touch of Power.

What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?
The best thing that has happened to me through blogging is the opportunities its given me. I’m only 14 but blogging has inspired me to start my career now, I’ve interviewed authors, started writing for newspapers and discovering some great new books.

This weeks Question:

Change the Plot. If you could, what book would you change the ending or a plot thread? Go ahead and do it…change it.

There are not many books that I would change, but really the one that sticks out the most is the ending of the Twilight series, with Breaking Dawn. I wanted Meyers to do things more aggressively. I wanted an all out battle. I wanted people to die and there to be no imprinting on newborns. I also think they should have named the kid something more normal, like maybe Beth. Beth is better then Renesemese. Or whatever it was.
