by Lori Foster
Lori Foster’s new series, Body Armor is a good intro to her new world. It’s an MMA series, and while not the best I’ve read, was full of suspense and hotness that is typical of Lori Foster. Foster is an A-List romance author and her suspense is a must read.
Under Pressure is a spin-off from the Ultimate series. Leese, introduced in that series leaves MMA to become a bodyguard. Not original, I’ve read a few of these types of romances, so while the writing is top notch, I wish it had a little bit more to it. The book is full of phenomenally original characters, though, and it’s wild ride from the beginning to the end. I liked the interplay between the couple, and while the romance happened quickly, it was romantic. It’s definitely a series you’ll want to check out if you like the MMA romances or bodyguard romances.

He can protect anything except his heart
Leese Phelps’s road hasn’t been an easy one, but it’s brought him to the perfect job — working for the elite Body Armor security agency. And what his newest assignment lacks in size, she makes up for in fire and backbone. But being drawn to Catalina Nicholson is a dangerous complication, especially since it could be the very man who hired Leese who’s threatening her.
What Catalina knows could get her killed. But who’d believe the sordid truth about her powerful stepfather? Beyond Leese’s ripped body and brooding gaze is a man of impeccable honour. He’s the last person she expects to trust — and the first who’s ever made her feel safe. And he’s the only one who can help her expose a deadly secret, if they can just stay alive long enough...

I feel unAmerican to admit that I wasn’t a HUGE fan of classic American literature. It’s almost painful for me to read Steinbeck, and Hemingway with some of his titles underwhelmed, and don’t get me started on Nathaniel Hawthorne. Unfortunately, during my high school experience, those were the titles that my teachers loved to force feed during American Lit classes. Sophomore year almost killed me by reading nothing but Steinbeck and Hawthorne, almost to the point of that I wanted to put all classic American lit in a box and hide it away, never to venture that way again. That is until my grandmother handed me Red Badge of Courage and the complete works of Walt Whitman. And I learned not to stereotype… here are my favorite classic American works, and the ones I think you should read.read more
The Dead Zone is a classic Stephen King, published in 1979, now available in audiobook and read by James Franco. The Dead Zone isn’t my favorite Stephen King, but that’s like comparing chocolate ice cream. With the narration by James Franco, they did a major push to get this one out there and “reread” by the masses. There is always a difference in reading and hearing it on audiobook, I think of audiobooks as performances – like a play of a book. And it’s even better when I’ve read the book, and now get to hear it on audiobook. Like an encore. This was an all-star encore!read more
