I really enjoy M.L. Buchman’s FIREHAWK series, it’s obvious he knows what he is talking about, has done the research and put a lot of thought into the schematics and worldbuilding. The characters do pay a little bit of a price because the details in the world and background are so intense, but I’ll deal with that, because he makes it so interesting.

The novel HOT POINT is the story of mechanic Denise Conroy and Firehawk pilot Vern Taylor. Vern is a hottie charmer with an ego, so irritable and Denise is a good character, but of course I liked Vern better. They are put to the test when they are paired together to fight fires and traverse a crazy political climate in the Central American jungle. During their firefighting endeavors the couple explore their own feelings, even though it is quite a a trial to get these two together. Mostly because of issues that they drum up themselves.

Overall it comes together in a very touching romance, with nice moments that will have you smiling. The gem of this series though is the world that ML Buchman creates and his fabulous firefighting details. You feel like you are right there. This one is advanced in the series, but you can pick these up at any point. There is a few references to other couples that are in the other books, but nothing that will make you feel like you’re missing anything. But, I do recommend reading his other books.

Recommendation: For fans of thrilling romances, heavy on the plot and world.

The elite firefighters of Mount Hood Aviation fly into places even the CIA can't penetrate.

Master mechanic Denise Conroy-with a reputation for being as steel-clad as the aircraft she keeps aloft-shuns useless flyboys who don't know one end of a wrench from the other.

Firehawk pilot Vern Taylor-known for unstoppable charm and a complete lack of mechanical skills-proves his talent for out-of-the-box thinking with every flight. He's a survivor and a natural-born heli-aviation firefighter.

When Denise and Vern crash together in the Central American jungle with wildfire on one side and a full-fledged military coup on the other, their newly forged partnership is tested to the max. They have each other, but not even their formidable skills combined can protect Denise and Vern from the conflagration sweeping the jungle...and their hearts.

The third in M.L Buchman's firefighter romantic suspense series featuring a team of daredevil smokejumpers who fight more than fires. The elite fire experts of Mount Hood Aviation fly into places even the CIA can't penetrate.
