Tribute To My Favorite Horror Author.
Tribute to Dean Koontz
My love of horror started in the 5th grade, when I picked up Stephen King’s IT. Scared the crap out of me and I LOVED it. I loved the chill, I loved that feeling of my heart racing as I turned the page to find out what would happen next. I loved the fact that I didn’t know if there would be a happily ever after. For a sheltered little girl, it was a reality check. I was never one to believe in the monster in the closet or the troll under the bed…but with an introduction to horror, I now had something to freak out about.
Stephen King had me fearing the devil (already sort of ingrained because of my Catholic school nun’s browbeating Satan’s influence into me) and clowns. But, around eighth grade I picked up a Dean Koontz book.
I was hooked. Koontz was already a SEASONED writer by the time I found him, writing books for twenty years before I first touched his books – so I had a lot of catching up to do. I tore through his books, getting freaked out by every last one of them. I became afraid of drains, big government, and genetic manipulation…to name a few. All because of Koontz. Hundreds of books later, I spent my teen years reading Dean Koontz. Then after reading his book STRANGERS…
Which transitioned me into more psychological and paranormal type reading…and the rest is history.
Thank you DEAN KOONTZ for entertaining me through my teen years. For introducing me to my paranormal obsession. You rocked my creativity.
