PJV Quickie: A typical Romantic Suspense contemporary, Secrets Of Whitewater Creek by Sarah Barrie follows the usual romantic suspense tropes and delivers an enjoyable, but typical novel in this genre.
Review: The novel centers around two individuals, a small town girl Jordan Windcroft and undercover detective, Reid Easton. The setting is rural Australia and Barrie paints a wonderful picture of this world with her crafting of Whitewater Creek. Jordan Windcroft is a hard-working, moral resident of her small town, she’s gone so far to protect her friends by taking a manslaughter charge for a car accident she wasn’t involved in. Windcroft gets probation for her crime a small price to pay for saving her friend. That is until Reid Easton comes to her town, he’s undercover to flush out a drug ring and the best way to infiltrate the seedy underbelly of Whitewater is to pose as a probation officer.
The romantic interaction starts up almost immediately as Reid and Jordan battle their attractions and hide their secrets. You’ll like both characters, Jordan is the plucky and independent heroine, she won’t be pushed around or forced to bend. Reid is a sexy man in uniform with a very straight moral compass. The two come together in a very romantic and sexy way. Paired with good dialogue and some witty moments, this book sucks you in gives you an enjoyable ride. This novel is a perfect read for Romantic Suspense fans that want to step out of small-town USA and onto a new continent.
Recommendations: This is an adults only, romance read. If you like romantic suspense, romance with secrets and a bit swoon, this one is for you. Don’t expect it to break the mold, but it is an enjoyable read.

Whoever said small towns have no secrets didn't know about this one...
Born and bred on the land, Jordan Windcroft is tough. She's had to be. Her life revolves around running her property almost single-handedly on next to no money, and waiting out her four years of probation - a rap that she took for one of her closest friends.
But there's an end to her problems in sight. Jordan’s probation period is almost up, and if she can just make the cattle sale, there’s a chance she can pull herself out of more than ten years of serious debt and keep her precious farm. The last thing she needs is for Reid Easton to walk into town.
Detective Senior Sergeant Reid Easton drives into Whitewater Creek on a mission to wrap up a three-year drug investigation; his only lead, Jordan Windcroft. The attraction between the two is immediate, but Reid is undercover and Jordan has a secret she can’t risk him discovering. Neither will jeopardise their cause, not for something as transitory as love.
‘Are you going to handcuff me again? Pin me up against another wall until I do what I’m told? Or are you going to just keep almost kissing me and playing the pretend-to-care card, before slapping me down with comments about simply being one of your probationers? What’s next, Reid? because I’ve had just about enough!’
‘So have I.’ He pulled her roughly to him and took what they both wanted.
