Six awesome books to enjoy this holiday season!

Six Books to Enjoy During the Holidays

I will admit that I’m not a big Christmas book reader, most of my books are based on nostalgia. Give them to your kids and have them create some childhood memories.

#6 Little Women
by Louisa May Alcott

I read LITTLE WOMEN when I was only a child, but the part of the book, (it was in the very beginning if I’m not mistaken) that stood out the most was the Christmas scene with the girls, how they spent the morning gathering items for the poor family down the street and then performed a play and Jo got to play the boys. It still sticks out as a favorite book and a scene that has stuck with me for a lifetime, even though I read it almost 25 years ago.

#5 The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
by C.S. Lewis

Best Holiday Books

Another childhood favorite, this one just puts me in the Christmas mood with all the snow and ice castles and fun things like that.

#4 Cajun Night Before Christmas
by Howard Jacobs, James Rice

Best holiday Books

Ever year my father read this to us in his best cajun accent and this became a holiday tradition…

#3 How the Grinch Stole Christmas!
by Dr. Seuss

Best Holiday Classics

Do I need to explain this one? 😉

#2 Harry Potter Series
by J.K. Rowling

Holiday Reads

A more modern addition to the list, I love how even when the school is under siege, they always celebrate Christmas and beautifully.

#1 The Stupidest Angel: A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror
by Christopher Moore

For when Christmas and Holidays and Shopping and budgets make me want to pull my hair out – I grab my copy of THE STUPIDEST ANGEL and laugh my Grinch off.  This is not a nostalgia book, this is for me the adult who sometimes forgets the magic of Christmas…and needs a little break. The story is about a very stupid angel, literally – who wants to help grant a wish of a child, but severely botches the whole affair…which leads to death and destruction all during Christmas. Fun!!!

I hope you enjoyed my list…now it’s your turn.
