I’ve mentioned before that I read a lot more books than I review here on PJV. Part of the reason I had to leave my own blog *sniff* was because between obligations to family, work, and actually reading, I had less and less time to blog about the awesome books I was reading…
And while I have some pretty good books scheduled for review in the next few weeks, this week has pretty much kicked my @ss.
So, today I’m sharing what I’m currently reading and some recent book purchases I’m pretty excited about…
What I’m reading now:

A co-worker told me I had to read Driven by K. Bromberg. I hadn’t heard of it, but I looked it up and thought “I’ll try it”. I’ve got mixed feelings about it – I like the story but it’s pretty drawn out and I find myself skimming over some scenes where it’s just too ‘wordy’. That being said, I immediately clicked ‘buy’ to purchase Fueled as soon as I finished Driven 🙂
** spoiler alert ** 50-lite.
The writing was good and although the plot is slightly different the story was too similar: she lives with BFF in a crappy apartment and meets a billionaire who wants her. He flies her off in a plane (instead of a helicopter) to lunch. He needs to be in control. Has a briefcase of pain instead of a whole room of pain. Oh – puts a vibrating “egg” inside her before they go to a charity function. At one point she breaks it off and becomes very depressed.
Yes, I am one of those readers who really liked 50, and I know I shouldn’t compare to those books, but this is just too close for my taste. 3 stars
I was pretty excited about Run to You by Rachel Gibson. Rachel Gibson is an auto-buy author for me, but this one didn’t catch me like her previous books. I can’t really say why, I just didn’t connect. I know that’s a cop-out, but it’s true 🙁 I gave it 3 stars.
Now let me tell you what I’ve recently purchased for my kindle. I’m pretty excited about diving in to these (and my biweekly gift card budget is shot):
The Last Hour of Gann by R. Lee Smith: I had heard something on twitter about this “lizard romance”, then accidentally stumbled across Jill Myles goodreads review and was sold!! It’s a little more expensive then I’d normally pay for an e-book, especially a new-to-me author, but apparently it’s pretty long so I went for it!
Love Lessons by Heidi Cullinan: This one is m/m and I love nerdy heroes. Add to that I enjoy Ms. Cullinan’s writing and how could I not hit the 1-click button? This one seems like it’s going to be less graphic and more sweetness, so I’m looking forward to starting this one.
Rhythym and Bluegrass by Molly Harper: Molly Harper is one of my all-time favorite authors – she’s never disappointed me. From her vampire/werewolf books to her contemporary romances, her writing is funny and sweet and sexy. While I don’t love the cover, I know the story will not disappoint.
What have you read recently or are excited about reading soon? Tell me in the comments!!
