Share With Me Sunday

I’ve mentioned before that I read a lot more books than I review here on PJV.  Part of the reason I had to leave my own blog *sniff* was because between obligations to family, work, and actually reading, I had less and less time to blog about the awesome books I was reading…

And while I have some pretty good books scheduled for review in the next few weeks, this week has pretty much kicked my @ss.

So, today I’m sharing what I’m currently reading and some recent book purchases I’m pretty excited about…

What I’m reading now:

Driven FueledA co-worker told me I had to read Driven by K. Bromberg.  I hadn’t heard of it, but I looked it up and thought “I’ll try it”.  I’ve got mixed feelings about it – I like the story but it’s pretty drawn out and I find myself skimming over some scenes where it’s just too ‘wordy’.  That being said, I immediately clicked ‘buy’ to purchase Fueled as soon as I finished Driven 🙂

Release MeI also picked up Release Me by J. Kenner because I had done a promo here when it first came out and I was very interested in reading the book.  Sadly, it just didn’t work for me:

** spoiler alert ** 50-lite.

The writing was good and although the plot is slightly different the story was too similar: she lives with BFF in a crappy apartment and meets a billionaire who wants her. He flies her off in a plane (instead of a helicopter) to lunch. He needs to be in control. Has a briefcase of pain instead of a whole room of pain. Oh – puts a vibrating “egg” inside her before they go to a charity function. At one point she breaks it off and becomes very depressed.

Yes, I am one of those readers who really liked 50, and I know I shouldn’t compare to those books, but this is just too close for my taste.  3 stars

Run to YouI was pretty excited about Run to You by Rachel Gibson.  Rachel Gibson is an auto-buy author for me, but this one didn’t catch me like her previous books.  I can’t really say why, I just didn’t connect. I know that’s a cop-out, but it’s true 🙁  I gave it 3 stars.

Now let me tell you what I’ve recently purchased for my kindle.  I’m pretty excited about diving in to these (and my biweekly gift card budget is shot):

The Last Hour of GannThe Last Hour of Gann by R. Lee Smith: I had heard something on twitter about this “lizard romance”, then accidentally stumbled across Jill Myles goodreads review and was sold!!  It’s a little more expensive then I’d normally pay for an e-book, especially a new-to-me author, but apparently it’s pretty long so I went for it!

Love LessonsLove Lessons by Heidi Cullinan: This one is m/m and I love nerdy heroes.  Add to that I enjoy Ms. Cullinan’s writing and how could I not hit the 1-click button?  This one seems like it’s going to be less graphic and more sweetness, so I’m looking forward to starting this one.

Rhythm and BluegrassRhythym and Bluegrass by Molly Harper: Molly Harper is one of my all-time favorite authors – she’s never disappointed me.  From her vampire/werewolf books to her contemporary romances, her writing is funny and sweet and sexy.  While I don’t love the cover, I know the story will not disappoint.
