A few of you have been asking for this for a time or two, so I figured with the recent migration from Blogger, you might be in need of a pluginpalloza, via the BB101. So here are my top Plugins that I couldn’t live without.

In alphabetical order.

All in One SEO Pack

There are two top SEO plugins, All In One & Yoast. I used Yoast for the first year and now I’ve switched to All In One. I like both of them, but I have noticed that my returns have increased, or more importantly become better targeted, with All in One SEO Pack.

Better WP Security

I have learned my lesson, just say no to Hackers! They can completely destroy your site. And they will continue to attack your site, no matter how much security you install. Better WP Security software has proven to be the most resilient to attacks. Even though I’m still having issues with those hackers come at me from all angles. Implement Better WP Security as one of your security precautions.

Jetpack by WordPress.com

One of the plugins that comes standard when you install WordPress, you’ll just have to connect to wordpress.com to start this one up. Jetpack does everything Feedburner does, from pinging, email subscriptions, social network sharing and it even has a great site stats monitoring system that is very congruent with Google Analytics. There are a ton of features with Jetpack, keep it installed and use it.

Shortcodes Ultimate

Oh shortcodes how I love thee! Let me count the ways! I love the way I can just create a button with just a few clicks, or a slider, or 3 column pricing tabs, insert multimedia, gallery images.. ALL WITHOUT inserting HTML. Shortcodes ARE THE REASON to switch to WordPress if you have not already. And Shortcodes Ultimate has 30 extra shortcodes that will not be utilized on your usual theme.

Simple Breaks

Sometimes when you are doing your “thing” in WordPress you find that you are not getting enough space between your image, or paragraphs. Maybe something is happening where you want to start a new line, but it just doesn’t want to happen. I use Simple Breaks all the time. Whether I want to add a Horizontal Rule quickly, or if I want to add a set spacing between my paragraphs. But the most intuitive part of this plugin is the CLEARBOTH feature, which basically starts over.

TinyMCE Advanced

Take your editor and STUPEFY it!! The TinyMCE Advanced adds great features like Font Size and tables, divs, color and full justify. This is a great plugin and I use it all the time. You might not use every single extra, but just a few extras go a long way.

 Book Blogger News:

I don’t want to go into it. But, more drama erupts on Goodreads.com causing posts like this one and this one and oh yeah, this one, and this one, oh and this one – on the bullshit that is going both ways. And all I gotta say, who gives a crap??? These people that troll or write negative reviews have no say in your life. The good thing about the internet – you can block, ignore and stay away. Ignore the stupids. Praise the witty. But, really, grow up people. No matter how loud you cry, there will still be ignorant people that say ignorant mean things. Unless we start euthanizing based on IQ points, we just have to learn to deal with it. If you don’t like the BS that goes down on Goodreads — don’t use Goodreads. Aren’t you getting it?? These people love this drama – they write these posts and reviews and troll troll troll so people like me and you link to them and click them and read them and talk about them. This is what they are DYING to have happen. And these authors and bloggers are just feeding it back and forth. If I didn’t know better — I would think that they actually like the drama.

They finally cast Fifty Shades of Grey! Stop the spanking and grab your knees…  Dakota Johnson will be Anastasia  and Charlie Hunnam will be Christian Grey in the upcoming adaption. {source}

 Question of the Week:

How did you learn web design? Does a blogger need to have a fancy blog design in order to be successful?

Youch. That is like one big open-ended question. How did I learn web design? I went to college and took a web design class — waay back in the beginning of this century, lol. When it was still HTML, straight-up. Then when all these fancy programs came out, I took courses. I recommend courses like lynda.com

Do I think a blogger needs a fancy blog design to be successful. No. But, I do think that they need to make the design “personal” so it brands them. You want to stand out from the competition, so when someone lands on your page, they know where they are. If you blog looks just like a lot of other blogs, people might get confused. Just a simple logo could change that.

Happy Thursday Everyone! Stay safe. Talk Less. Read More. Blog with Integrity. Have a question? Ask it here.
