I know what you’re thinking: only 47 pages? What could possibly happen in that short amount of time? Well I can tell you: a lot! Obviously this is not a full installment in the Marnie Baranuik series; it is called a “Between the Files” short, and is set between the 2nd and 3rd book in the series. It’s kind of a way for us to get our fill of the characters while waiting for the next book to be released, in the same way that Janet Evanovich does with the Stephanie Plum series.

This short story centers around Marnie assisting law enforcement with a particularly disturbing case involving a missing person. She, with the help of Harry and her brother, Wes, has figure out what happened to a missing person before it’s too late. I have to say, I wasn’t expecting the case to go the direction it did. That’s definitely not a bad thing, and it reminded me of the mystery/thriller/suspense novels I used spend most of my time reading. Of course it’s not all dark and depressing, Marnie still manages to insert her hilarious wit in every chance she gets.

I’m sorry this isn’t a very long review, but with the story being on the short side I don’t want to give too much away. All I can say is that I loved Cold Company. It’s set after book 2, but even if you haven’t read the rest of the series you will still be able to enjoy this one. Of course, if you already love Marnie, Harry, and the rest of the gang then you definitely want to pick this up!

I’m about to make it a little easier for you! Right now Cold Company is on Amazon for 99 cents, but I am going to giveaway 4 eBook copies right here on PJV! So what are you waiting for, enter through Rafflecopter below. Good luck!
