For today’s Indie Summer Feature, please welcome Rhiannon Paille to Parajunkee’s View.
Book Name: VULTURE
Release Date: 07/18/2013
Genre: Fantasy, Young Adult
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I’m shy, a little crazy, too psychic for my own good and allergic to coffee.
In your own words, tell us a little bit about your book?
VULTURE is the third in The Ferryman + The Flame Series, and it’ll probably break your soul.
Can you tell us about the characters in your book? Who is your favorite?
From VULTURE I have to say Pux is my favorite. Of course Kaliel and Krishani are struggling to repair their broken relationship but Pux has these moments with Kaliel and his own moments with Jack that really make me love him.
What makes your book different from other books out there in the same genre?
The only thing that makes one book different from another is voice. I write in third person limited so the reader can understand the story from multiple points of view. I believe two writers can write about the same thing like werewolves, but it’s the voice that sets them apart.
What led to you going “indie”?
I wanted readers, and despite not being picked up I thought I could at least find a handful of people who liked my books. Turns out I found a few thousand, so that’s awesome!
Is Writing your full time profession?
No, I’m also a metaphysical therapist. I’ll never quit that job because my clients need me.
Do you have any quirks or processes that you go through when you write?
I need to find sad songs . . . and I usually have to be sad to write.
Who are some of your favorite authors?
Cassandra Clare, Frankie Rose, Erin Morgenstern, Maggie Stiefvater, Julie Kagawa, Katie McGarry, M. Leighton, Amy Evans, Jessica Sorensen
