Giveaway HopToday the Feature & Follow is in its 100th Week!

To celebrate this momentous occasion we are doing things a little differently today!

First things different. There is a Giveaway Hop attached to this Blog Hop. So while you are hopping around saying Happy Friday, hop on over and enter some contests!  Because of this there will be two lists. One with the lists of giveaways. The other is the list of people participating in the #FF today.

Second thing different on today’s post — you have an ACTIVITY instead of the usual question. The activity is to FEATURE your own blogger on your blog. Tell us about your buddy, or even your favorite blog and feature them. You can tell them you are doing it, or you can just surprise them. Either or — it is YOUR turn to feature someone.

Alison Can ReadBut, who am I Featuring Today? Well none other than my partner in crime and fellow #FF host — Alison of

1. When did you start blogging?
I started blogging on June 4, 2010. Two years and two days ago! I followed book blogs for several months and finally decided that it would be a lot more fun to be part of the community rather than just observe it. I’ve never looked back.
2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?
Definitely the community. I love having internet friends who share my passion for books. It’s hard to find in real life. Also, it’s especially nice to have continuity with friends when so much else in my life is changing – living in 3 states in 2 years.
3. What is your favorite book(s)?
Well, if you follow my blog and my typical FF answers, you can probably guess: Harry Potter, Twilight, and Pride & Prejudice. As a teen, my favorite book was probably The Giver by Lois Lowry. In recent years, I’ve also loved The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, the Vampire Academy series, everything by Maggie Stiefvater, and The Greyfriar by Clay and Susan Griffith.
4. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?
When the FF is posted, I’ll be at BEA!!! The opportunity to go to a giant book conference in New York City is definitely at the top of the list. I’ve also enjoyed meeting other book bloggers and authors at signings. Of course, I could have gone to signings before I blogged, but I usually didn’t think about it. I’ve enjoyed connecting with authors more through my blog and Twitter. It’s interesting to realize that they are real people rather than the Godlike creatures I always thought them to be (although many of them are that too!).
5. Why did I participate in and then co-host the FF?
Like many bloggers, I joined the popular hops and memes to get my blog out there. I became particularly active in Rachel’s Follow Friday. Partly because it was a fabulous way to advertise my own blog, but also because it was the best way for me to discover other blogs and revisit old favorites. I also really enjoy seeing everyone’s answers to the weekly question. I was so honored that Rachel asked me to co-host the FF. It worked out well for me, because I had free time Thursday evening and was already in tune to the workings of FF. I’ve enjoyed being able to feature blogs and also to play a bigger role in the blogging community. I try very hard to visit lots of blogs each week. Commenting is really important to me. As much as I’d like to, it’s hard for me to get to a lot of blogs during the week, but FF is a way for me to visit a lot of people.
6. What blog posts are you most proud of?
There are several, but I’ll limit it to two:

I LOVE Twilight and I Am NOT ASHAMED!

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

7. What do you like to do outside of blogging and reading?
I rarely have time other than blogging and reading. Blogging started out as a hobby and has now turned into an unpaid second job that’s taken over my life. But I’m happy to do it. In my occasional free time, I like to cook/bake, exercise (running and yoga), and do various crafty things. I would have more time to do these things if I didn’t waste loads of time looking at cooking/fitness blogs and gossip sites (Lainey Gossip is my favorite). I have a dog and cat who I adore. My husband and I really enjoy traveling. We both like Asia a lot. We’ve been going all over California this year because we’re living here. I’m hoping to get over to Europe again next year. I haven’t been there in 6 years. Plus, I like going home to Phoenix at least once a year.

Giveaway Hop Time — All these wonderful Blogs will have Giveaways on their #FF100 Posts!

I am also having a giveaway — scroll all the way to the bottom of this post.

Now for the Feature & Follow Hop

How does this work? First you leave your name here on this post, (using the linky tools — keep scrolling!) then you create a post on your own blog that links back to this post (easiest way is to just grab the code under the #FF picture and put it in your post) and then you visit as many blogs as you can and tell them “hi” in their comments (on the post that has the #FF image). You follow them, they follow you. Win. Win. Just make sure to follow back if someone follows you!

To join the fun and make new book blogger friends, just follow these simple rules:

    • (Required) Follow the Follow My Book Blog Friday Hosts {Parajunkee & Alison Can Read}
    • (Required) Follow our Featured Bloggers (which are the same today!)
    • Put your Blog name & URL in the Linky thing. You can also grab the code if you would like to insert it into your posts.
    • Grab the button up there and place it in a post, this post is for people to find a place to say “hi” in your comments and that they are now following you.
    • If you are using WordPress or another CMS that doesn’t have GFC (Google Friends Connect) state in your posts how you would like to be followed
    • Follow Follow Follow as many as you can, as many as you want, or just follow a few. The whole point is to make new friends and find new blogs. Also, don’t just follow, comment and say hi. Another blogger might not know you are a new follower if you don’t say “HI”
    • If someone comments and says they are following you, be a dear and follow back. Spread the Love…and the followers
    • If you’re new to the follow friday hop, comment and let me know, so I can stop by and check out your blog!
