Tailored for Trouble is not your typical office romance book. The interplay between the characters makes this book the gem it is in a flooded genre, but I’ve read a few of these that are all so very similar that they all kind of blend together. This one does stand out because of the unique addition of kind of a ‘fated’ aspect and a magical realism interlaced within it. I really liked that change-up. There was a quirky heroine, a sexy client/boss/billionaire…resistance, then sex, then love etc. which is standard within this genre – but Pamfiloff made it stand out. I like these for a quick and enjoyable read, and Pamfiloff’s first book in the Happy Pants series had me giggling at times and entertained until the end. If you are looking for a good office romance that stands out from the crowd, you might want to check out Tailored for Trouble.

The main character Taylor Reed is driven. Her goal is to turn jerk CEOs into empathetic and caring individuals that look out for their employees. Since she was fired she branched out on her own is now spearheading a training program to help bosses fix their jerk-tendencies. The biggest jerk out there is Bennett Wade. That’s the guy that got her fired and on her most hated list – and top of the jerk list as far as CEOs are concerned. It’s going to be one hell of a process fixing his jerk tendencies when he hires her to fix his issues with a female client he can’t seem to cut a deal with. They team up, reluctantly…and chaos ensues. There are magic cookies involved, private jets, a very involved mother…and just a really good character interplay.

If you want a good romance, have a thing for asshole billionaires and stubborn heroines, this is the book for you. If you like to laugh, while enjoying a good romance…also, check this one out. It’s different. It’s funny. It’s sexy. Pamfiloff’s new series is a keeper. Looking forward to book #2.

“Men like Bennett Wade didn’t take no for an answer. In fact, nos only made them more determined.”

A sassy, sexy, laugh-out-loud rom-com between the hottest man never to be tamed and the woman crazy enough to try
SHE WANTS TO CHANGE THE WORLD.

Taylor Reed is no stranger to selfish, uncaring CEOs. She was fired by one, which is why she has created her own executive training program—helping heartless bosses become more human. So Taylor shocks even herself when she agrees to coach Bennett Wade, the cutthroat exec who got her unceremoniously canned. She’d love to slam the door in his annoying but very handsome face, but the customers aren’t exactly lining up at her door. Plus, this extreme makeover will give Taylor the golden opportunity to prove that her program works like a charm.
HE WANTS TO BUY IT.

Bennett Wade is many things—arrogant, smug, brusque—but trusting isn’t one of them. Women just seem to be after his billions. So when he hires Taylor Reed, he has no desire to change. Bennett is trying to win over the feminist owner of a company he desperately wants to buy, but something about the fiery Taylor thaws the ice around his heart, making Bennett feel things he never quite planned on. And if there’s one thing Bennett can’t stand, it’s when things don’t go according to plan.
They are a match tailor-made for trouble.

A Million Little Things – Is Literally a Book About a Million Little Things…Go Figure

The third book in the Mischief Bay series is basically a stand-alone. You don’t have to read the fist two books to enjoy A Million Little Things. Each book in the series is about a group of women that all have different problems, come together in different ways, and work their way through their issues with friendship and understanding. I would put this firmly in women’s fiction category, and if you like real-world issue based novels this is the one for you. Mallery is an excellent writer and portrays contemporary problems with finesse. While my tastes lend more to fantastical fiction, I did enjoy the story of the three women in A Million Little Things, but I don’t know if I’ll read more in the series. Again, personal taste, not because the story isn’t well done.

Another “Hot Billionaire Novel” The Rule Maker by Jennifer Blackwood

The “Hot Billionaire” trend is not fading, and I do have to admit that I like them, but when they get formulaic they do tend to chafe and get repetitive. The Rule Maker was as formulaic as they get. Insert romantic part here, insert quirky scene here. I did find some of the interactions quite entertaining but the overall feel of a cookie-cutter billionaire romance had me losing interest once they hooked up.
