Day 19: Change it up[clearboth] [br]
Change is Good
I know organization and productivity tutorials will say to set a schedule, 10 minutes for commenting, 15 minutes for writing – those sorts of habitual practices. Thigns like, setting an editorial calendar, posting certain features on certain days. This is all good. But, sometimes routine doesn’t fuel creativity. It also tends to promote stagnation and boredom. If you do the same thing over and over again in the same way… that is called monotony. Some of us relish routines and make it work for them. But, if you are like me, I enjoy a good routine, especially for organization and productivity purposes, but I thrive mentally in new situations. It’s exciting. It’s fun. It’s something to talk about.
I’ve even read where changing routines, small things, like brushing your teeth with the opposite hand, or driving a different way to work, stimulates the brain. Stimulating our brain is good. Let’s stimulate our blogging brain!
Tips to Keep your Blogging Fresh, New & Exciting
1. Change Your Background Image or Color
Have you been using a black background with white text – why not switch it around and do a white background with black writing. It’s easier to read and gives your blog a completely new flavor.
2. Change Your Default Font
Switch from a serif to a san-serif font. Nothing crazy – keep it legible, just switch it up.
3. Post at a New Time
If you have been posting at 8am EST every day for the last year, try posting at 11 or give an evening post a try
4. Change up Sidebar Order
Check on your sidebars put them in priority order
5. Try a New Schedule
