Hello….

Hellooo….

Hello?

Hello?

Is anyone out there? Is anyone reading this? Why am I even writing this? Frankly, because I have been feeling that some of the Joie de Vivre of the book blogger community has blown away in the wind.

Or is it just me?

My reader used to be peppered with about 60% fluff pieces and the rest were actual reviews and meaningful pieces. Now I have to say it’s 90% fluff.

What do I consider fluff? Cover reveals, promotional pieces – just content that is generated “out of house.” Not that there is anything wrong with some of this stuff…but when you see it over and over again *ahem* Did we ever figure out who the f*** Marcus Finch is – you feel a sort of detachment from your reader. I don’t want to click that crap – I just saw it about a hundred times before.

But it’s not just that. It is also the fact that when I do find that gem within the miasma of mindless fluff, there are no comments on the reviews or meaningful posts. It breaks my heart, to read a fabulous review and see that it has been live for at least a day, with not one comment. I hope my one little comment that I leave makes somewhat of an impact. Just to say “hi” of course.

But – there are hundreds of comments on the trash talking pieces…not about a book in particular but about tantalizing topics within books, or scandalous behavior of the book industry… *sigh*

spam5Then of course, there is twitter. I actually deactivated my Triberr account. I gave it a go and then I decided it actually had a negative impact. I believe my pageviews actually went down after using Triberr. Spam much? I can hear the whispers resonating off the walls of twitter. But, again it’s not just my @ stream, it’s also my main stream… via via via via via via via via via via via via via via via via via via via via via via via via via via via via via via via via via via via via via via

Have we all moved away somewhere and I didn’t get the forwarding addresses? Did everyone jump on YouTube.com and not tell me? I don’t want to Vlog all the time! *sob*

Or is it we just have to have a good #scandal to get us all worked up? We haven’t had a good blogger breakdown in a bit. Should I plagiarize someone to get things going again? (kidding!) Or is it just a fad? Is it just the groups that I move through that are sort of just floating around…am I missing the cool kids club that is hosting a fabulous party right at this moment that I wasn’t invited to? (my insecure teen is rearing her ugly head)

Just wanted to get this off my chest? Has anyone else noticed a drop off in the last couple of months? Any suggestions for where the cool people are hanging out? Just thought I would put this out there…don’t judge me, I’ve spoken to a few others and they’ve noticed the same trend. Just want to know if anyone else has noticed it? And what we need to do to get this party started again!
